James Keppel, age 87, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 to be with his Lord and Savior.
Jim was an accountant at Zeeland Lumber prior to retirement. He enjoyed living in the country, a good tractor show, and his barn cats. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with his sons and grandchildren. His love of his grandchildren was nurtured in their yearly spring break hunting trips together where the passion of Carhartt hats was shared. He was a member of Hanley Christian Reformed Church where he served as Elder and chair of the building committee. He enjoyed serving his community on the Jamestown Planning Commission. Later in life he liked to be called "Jimmy" as a term of endearment. He was loved and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Jean Keppel; son, Jon and Elizabeth Keppel; son, Jeff and Sara Keppel; grandchildren, Darren Keppel, Tyler Keppel, Luke Keppel, Jaclyn Keppel, Jeannie and Jordan Oesch (Preston), Taylor and Andrew VanDerLaan (Charlie and Evelyn), Ethan Keppel; sister, Mary Groenheide; and extended family.
Visitation with the family is 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland, MI 49464.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Hanley Christian Reformed Church, O-372 Jackson St. Grandville, MI 49418.

I enjoyed working with Jim at Zeeland Lumber. He had a subtle sense of humor and I remember many of our conversations. Heaven received a great person. He will be missed.
