James L. “Jim” Kerker, 84, of Augusta, Illinois, passed away at 12:04 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, Illinois.

He was born on December 19, 1940, in Adams County near LaPrairie, Illinois, to Russell and Leona Sparks Kerker. He was united in marriage to Carol Bartlow on August 24, 1962, at the Huntsville Methodist Church. She survives.

Jim had been employed at the Colmar Elevator and drove trucks for many local businesses. He was a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church. His five grandchildren were the light of his life, and he always enjoyed spending time with each of them.

He is survived by two sons: Kevin (Lisa) Kerker of Augusta, Illinois, and Jamie (Caryn) Kerker of Huntsville, Illinois; a daughter, Melanie Corrine Dunn (Cliff Selsor) of Macomb, Illinois; five grandchildren, Nicole Kerker, Kollin (Brenna) Kerker, Klayton (Sydnee) Kerker, Amanda (Daniel) Corrigan, and Alyssa (Grant) McDonald; nine-great-grandchildren a brother, Gary (Jean) Kerker of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Kay Bartlow of Augusta, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Russell Kerker Jr. and Robert “Bob” Kerker; and two nephews, Gene and Dale Kerker.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, Illinois, is handling arrangements.
