Charlotte Dorethy, 88, of Macomb, IL, formerly of Plymouth, IL, went to be with the angels at 4:45 am Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Grand Prairie Assisted Living Center in Macomb, IL.
She was born June 21, 1937, in Plymouth, IL, to Gilbert (Doc) and Evelyn Webb Hatch. She was united in marriage to Merlin Dorethy on September 10, 1955, in Plymouth, IL. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2023.
Charlotte was a 1955 graduate of Plymouth High School. She was employed at Lawton’s Accounting and the Plymouth Community Bank in Plymouth. She attended the Colchester Methodist Church and the Bible study at the Church, she was a member of the Plymouth Women’s Circle and served on the Plymouth Old Settlers’ committee, but her most cherished time was spending time with her family and her Grand Prairie friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Melody Dorethy of Colchester, IL, a son, Mark (Janine) Dorethy of Tennessee, IL, 2 granddaughters, Heather (Matthew) Parkin of Carthage, IL and Haley (Spencer Raleigh) Dorethy of Macomb, IL, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister, Bebe Ann (Robert) Dobbins, 3 nephews, 1 niece and numerous cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Bill and Elsie Dorethy, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Marlene Kimble, and a nephew, Lonnie Dobbins.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Plymouth Circle Community Center in Plymouth, IL, with Rev. Jim Clayton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of services at the center. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth Circle Community Center or the Colchester Methodist Church.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL, is handling arrangements.
