James Kerney Bayoune, Sr. affectionately known as Kerney, was born on June 21, 1963 to the late Herbert and Jennie Lee Metoyer Bayoune. His favorite things to do were fish, watch the Animal Planet, History Channel, listen to the radio, and his early morning talks with his brother while drinking coffee. On Friday, February 2, 2024 he made his transition from Earth to glory. We give God all the thanks and praises for the time He allowed us to share with him.
Kerney’s joyous spirit and smile will be missed by many, but we will cherish and keep his memories alive in our hearts forever. He was an excellent Butcher who took great care and pride in his work for 40 years and with great customer service that earned him the title of “Best Butcher in Town”.
He dedicated his life to his wife and children. He met his beautiful wife one day in People’s Food Warehouse over four decades ago. He asked her out on a date and that escalated into a beautiful marriage.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his wife, Belinda Bayoune; six children, Tinesha Lynch Henry (Tony), Sherman Bell, James Gant, Courtney Bayoune Watson (Charles) Kerena Bayoune Milner (David), Kerney Bayoune, Jr., and Kalaysia Lynch; one brother, Joseph Bayonne (preceded in death by his wife LaShonda); two sisters, Janice Metoyer Armstrong (Phillip, Sr.) and Theresa Bayoune Rachel; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Aristle Bayoune “Me Too” and grandmother, Orleas Coutee Bayoune “Miss Babe”, his father, Herbert Bayoune, his mother, Jennie Bayoune; his brother, John Bayoune “Bubba”; and his sister-in-law, LaShonda Bayonne.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday the 9th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
