James E. Keyt, 81, of Sweetwater, TN, formerly of La Salle, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at his home in Tennessee, surrounded by his family.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 8, 2025 at St. John's Cemetery in Lostant. Full military rites will be conducted by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home, LaSalle.
James was born on October 28, 1943 in La Salle to Casto and Sophie (Nedza) Keyt. He attended Lostant Grade Schools and LaSalle-Peru Township High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966 and was stationed in Germany. James retired from the City of La Salle Street Department after over 20 years of service. He married Deborah Moore on January 26, 1995 in Ottawa.
James is survived by his wife, Deborah "Debbie" Keyt of Sweetwater, TN; two children, Lynn Keyt and James Keyt both of LaSalle; two step-children, Mike (Jennifer) Harmon of Sweetwater, TN and Jim Harmon of Europe; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Susan (Tom) Sment of LaSalle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ann Zeman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
