James Kirkland Obituary
Publish in a newspaper
at home with his wife and son. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, January
18, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm in the family celebration center at Carmichael Funeral Home in
.Smyrna. Mr, Kirkland was preceded in death by his parents James and Anna Kirkland,
his brother Larry Kirkland. Surviving are his wife Maxine Kirkland, son James Max Kirkland
and niece Jennifer Kirkland. Jim was born at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. He grew up in College Park, GA watching
the Atlanta airport expand. This created an interest in building gliders with his Dad and
long time friend, Jim Lewis. He attended Auburn University and Georgia Tech. He loved learning and meeting people
which he did working at Ruby Red's Warehouse in Underground Atlanta. Later he worked in
construction eventually opening his own contracting business, and James R. Kirkland Designs and Estimates, Inc.

Sorry to hear of my cousin´s passing. I only saw him a few times over the years. Remember visiting at his parents house in the 70´s with Maude Ruth & cathe and my Mama who was sister to Maude Franks his grandmother. Extending sympathy & prayers. May God give you peace for the days ahead.

I remember him enjoying talking about playing his music and enjoying producing construction plans on his computer in his living room. He liked being his own boss.

I have been neighbors of the Kirklands for over 25 years and they have become good friends. Jim will be missed very much by his family and friends.
