William (Bill) Hugh Douglas, 91, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Born on February 28, 1934, in Nicholls, Georgia, to Irene Taylor and Archie Douglas, Bill lived a long and meaningful life marked by love, service, and resilience.

A proud United States Navy veteran, Bill carried the values of duty and integrity with him throughout his life. Following his Naval Service, he attended Georgia Tech where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. He then attended Lamar University and earned a Master of Business Administration. Those who knew him best remember not only his service to his country but also his quiet strength, sharp wit, and the deep love he had for his family.

One of Bill's greatest joys was spending time at the family's beach house, where he found peace and happiness by the water. He loved fishing, tending to his garden, and taking family vacations that created lifelong memories. Holidays and birthday celebrations were especially dear to him-times when he could be surrounded by the people he loved most, sharing laughter, stories, and good food.

He was married to Doris "D'Ann" Douglas, with whom he shared fifty-nine years before her passing. Together, they built a family that was Bill's greatest pride and joy.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Waits and her husband, Eric, of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Carson Waits, Monet Douglas, Remy Douglas; and numerous nieces and nephews who each carry forward his spirit in their own ways.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris "D'Ann"; his four siblings, Sammy Douglas, Archie Douglas, Jr, Opal Cole, and Jackie Knight; and his son, William (Will) J. Douglas. Though his passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who loved him, the stories, laughter, and lessons he shared will live on for generations.

Bill will be remembered as a man who served his country with honor, loved his family deeply, and found joy in fishing, gardening, seaside breezes, and the celebrations that brought his loved ones together.

The family wishes to honor Bill's memory by supporting a cause close to their hearts. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, Texas 77087.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
