It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Billie Jean Wharton, of Georgetown, Texas, who went peacefully to meet our Lord and Savior on September 17, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on April 5, 1933, in Pitkin, Louisiana, to Ernest and Edna Lambright. Billie was the youngest of two children. She grew up in Pitkin, Louisiana, and after graduating as the Valedictorian of her class she went on to graduate from Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

She then took a job teaching Home Economics at Vidor High School for twenty-five years. She dearly loved teaching and was an integral part in helping shape so many young women in so many ways. There are a lot of well-fed husbands who can attest to this fact.

She came to Vidor as a newly divorced single mom with a six-month-old baby boy. She met and married the love of her life, B.E. Wharton, and they had one daughter. They were married for fifty-two years until his passing in February of 2015. Billie was a devoted wife and mother, and she took great pride in all she did, and it showed. She loved teaching and really gave of herself to her students.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Alan Wharton and his wife, Teri, of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Kara Elizabeth Wharton, of Houston, Texas; grandson Cameron Alan Wharton and his wife, Sarah, of Houston, Texas; and granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Perthuis and her husband, Brett, of Georgetown, Texas; great-granddaughters, Riley Ann Urbanek of Georgetown, Texas and Emily Elizabeth Wharton, of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by nieces, Carolyn Lambright Doss and her husband, Todd, of Austin, Texas; Catherine Weber, also of Austin, Texas; Vicki Rose and her husband, Robert, of China, Texas; nephew, David Wharton of Nome, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Edna Lambright; brother, Walter Lambright and his wife, Frances; brother-in-law, Roscoe Wharton and his wife, Evelyn; and the love of her life, husband B.E. Wharton.

Billie Jean will be greatly missed and remembered by all that new and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA, or the Human Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705

At her request, the Celebration of Mrs. Wharton Life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, officiated by Reverend Terry Wright. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium. In honor of Billie, please wear a blue or green as these were her favorite colors.
