James Thomas Kluttz, Jr., 78, of Rockwell, North Carolina, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2026.
James was born on June 10, 1947, in Salisbury, NC, to the late James Thomas Kluttz and Vetra B. Kluttz. He grew up in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
James worked as a tractor-trailer mechanic at Overnite for more than 20 years. A man of deep faith, he loved the Lord and lived a life rooted in simplicity and gratitude. After retiring, he found true peace on his land, where he cherished time on his farm surrounded by his property, his goats, and his beloved donkey, Homeboy.
James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Suzette Deal Kluttz; his three daughters, Latissa Baxter (Travis), Kristy Ligon (Daniel), and Savanna Ziskind (Daniel); and his treasured grandchildren, Marianna Stellmacher, Zachary Ligon, Lincoln Baxter, Nash Baxter, Ember Ziskind, and Klara Ziskind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Joanna McDonald, Rosa Allmon, and Sylvia Kluttz.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 11, 2026, at Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00–4:30 PM, with the service beginning at 5:00 PM.
