James David Kreiss, age 82 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in hospice care after a long illness. He was a long-time member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Born in Slatington, PA, he was the son of the late Amos and Mae Kreiss. David served our country in the Army. He retired from General Motors where he worked for 25 years. He was a member of Slatington Masonic Lodge #440 for over 50 years. He was an avid "Eagles" and "Phillies" fan and enjoyed watching them from his favorite recliner. He also enjoyed his monthly poker games with his "buddies", the occasional Bingo game, and his visits to Delaware Park. David enjoyed traveling the US with his family. He was a unique and kind man who didn't think twice about helping others.

David will be missed by his two sons Jay D. Kreiss (Lisa) of Townsend, DE and Jeffrey D. Kreiss (Lisa) of Wilmington; brother Dennis Kreiss (Gloria) of Harrisburg, PA; sister Donna Kreiss of Hummelstown, PA; two granddaughters: Brianna Kreiss and Samantha Kreiss; sister-in-law Lois Szapacs (Ronnie) of Slatington, PA; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Susan A. Kreiss and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11am to 12pm. Masonic Services to be held at the conclusion of the visitation. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
