Memorials may be made to the Jim Larick Memorial/Scholarship Fund to be established for the community by the family at a later date.

James Joseph Larick was born in Mason City in 1937 to Darwin "Dutch" and Leoma Larick. He attended Clarion schools and graduated in 1955. In his youth he was a 4-H member. During his high school years, he really enjoyed playing the two sports he loved most - baseball and wrestling. As a Senior, Jim placed second at his weight at the State Wrestling tournament. Upon graduation, he continued his passion for wrestling at Iowa State University for a year. In his young adult years, Jim spent time with buddies bowling, snowmobiling and hunting deer, pheasant, and geese.

Drafted into the Army, Jim served in the Korean War from 1960-1962, later working for the government and REC. On November 14,1964 Jim married the love of his life, Sandra Sue Breckenridge. From this union, three children were born, Dave, Kevin and LeAnn. After living in town for eight years, they moved to an acreage north of town in 1972 when he began farming and raising livestock. Jim cherished family time and was always there to support his kids and grandkids with their activities.

Jim and Sandee enjoyed socializing and doing life with friends and neighbors, especially playing cards and celebrating special occasions. Jim's other passions included golfing, mowing the lawn, cheering on his beloved Yankees, and caring daily for his livestock and farm related chores.

He supported the community in several capacities over the years, including twenty-five years as a 4-H leader and forty-three years as a volunteer firefighter. He also served on the boards for the ASCS office, the Clarion Co-op, Pork Producers Association and St. John's Catholic church. He was an active member of the Wright County Veteran's Affairs, Lake Cornelia Association and helped at the Wright County Fair.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Sandee, of 60 years; daughter LeAnn (Tony) Galeazzi of West Des Moines, sons Dave Larick of Clive and Kevin (Amy) Larick of West Des Moines; grandchildren Taylor Larick of New York, Morgan Larick of Iowa City, Cassie (Colin) Coglizer of Slater, Drew Larick of West Des Moines, step-granddaughter Tiffany Githens-Galeazzi of Clive, great grandchildren Tanner and Jace Coglizer, his sister-in-law Joanie (Larry) Baker and many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Darwin and Leoma, brother Francis Larick, half-sisters Loraine Rholl and LaVon Marchand, and half-brother Richard Larick.
