James (Jimmy) Merle Larson, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and faithful servant of God, peacefully entered eternity at Jackson Madison County Hospital on June 8, 2023, at the age of 73. Born on April 4, 1950, he was the son of Merle and Virginia Larson, of Halls, TN, who, along with his brother Chris, preceded him in death. Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of over 48 years, Patricia, their two sons, Bryan (Rebecca) and Lyle (Susan), five adoring grandchildren, Elijah, Luke, Elizabeth, Madilyn, and Ava, and two sisters, Johanna (Teddy) Stutts and Millie Nester.
Jimmy will be remembered as a man whose faith was the cornerstone of his life. He exemplified the teachings of Christ through his selflessness and unwavering focus on others. Jimmy had a heart that overflowed with love and compassion, always placing the needs of those around him above his own. His kind and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, and he was a beacon of hope and encouragement to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Among his many passions, Jimmy was a prayer warrior, faithfully interceding for others and lifting their needs before God. He also found joy in serving his community. He was a dedicated youth baseball coach, investing his time and energy in mentoring and shaping the lives of young athletes. Jimmy was also a master grill chef, spending hours each year cooking to feed family, friends, and the community. Additionally, he was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers wearing his orange and white with pride.
Jimmy was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg for over 40 years, where he actively participated in various ministries and served as a steadfast supporter of his church family and the staff called to lead them. He would often express his faith by making crosses out of dollar bills and give those crosses to people as gifts to display the love of God. Jimmy regularly carried snacks and other items to families in the ICU Waiting Room at the hospital in Dyersburg.
Throughout his life, Jimmy pursued various career paths. He worked as a skilled butcher, a dedicated long-haul truck driver, a proficient forklift operator, and a respected truck shop manager. Most of his working life was spent with Colonial Rubber Works where he worked for 38 years. Regardless of his occupation, he approached his work with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered along the way.
Above all else, Jimmy treasured his family and took great pride in their accomplishments and character. He was a devoted husband to Patricia, his partner in life's journey. He was a source of unwavering support to his two sons. Jimmy found immense joy in the presence of his grandchildren, relishing every moment spent with them. To his grandchildren and extended family and friends, he was simply known as Daddy Jim.
