Deacon James Randle Lavergne Sr. was born on September 12, 1948, in
Rayne, Louisiana, to his loving parents, Gatta Harmon Sr. and Albertha Harmon. He was raised with faith as his foundation and carried that faith with him every day of his life.
James received his education at Hull Daisetta High School in Daisetta, Texas, where he laid the groundwork for a life of hard work and integrity. He confessed his faith in the Lord at an early age - a commitment that would define his character and guide his every step.
A devoted husband, Deacon Lavergne shared his life with the love of his life, Minister Mother Ida Harris Lavergne. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, worship, and an unwavering dedication to the Lord.
James was a proud and faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Baytown, where he sang in the Male Chorus and served as Deacon, as well as Harvest Time Deliverance Church. His voice in worship and his service to God's people were among the great joys of his life.
Throughout his career, Deacon Lavergne served the community through his work at the Baytown/Mont Belvieu Ready-Mix Concrete Plant and the Baytown GMC Buick Dealership.
Known to family and friends alike for his unwavering loyalty, Deacon Lavergnewas also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, never missing a game and always ready to cheer on his team with the same fervor he brought to everything he loved.
James is preceded in death by his beloved Parents Gatta Harmon Sr. & Albertha Harmon and his dear Brother, Jimmy Dale Harmon.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Minister Mother Ida Harris Lavergne; his children Candace Lavergne, James Lavergne Jr., April (Mack) Grogan of Beaumont, Texas, Eric (Tiffany) Lavergne Sr. of Humble, Texas, and Charity Harris Lavergne; his bonus children DeVetia Wells and Tasha (Tomlee) Thomas Sr.; his siblings Cynthia Scott of San Antonio, Texas, Gatta (Dionne) Harmon Jr., Joe (Louise) Harmon of Robinson, Texas, Terry Harmon of San Antonio, Texas, Donna (Craig) Wilson of Moore, Oklahoma, Brenda (Joe) Williams of Beaumont, Texas; his uncles Paul (Karen) Lavergne of Killeen, Texas and Willie Lavergne of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren Cameron (Anisha) Lavergne, Kevin Addison Jr., Kalab Addison, Alonzo (Kharizma) Harewood, Tomlee Thomas Jr., Isaiah (Kailey) Thomas, Eric Lavergne Jr., Camden Lavergne, Maddison Grogan, and Keara Grogan; his eight great-grandchildren; Prayer Warrior, Evangelist, Missionary Vickie Bushnell (The Prayer Lines); and a cherished host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
