James K. Lech

James Kimo Lech, 49, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026. He was born on July 17th, 1976, at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii to Gary and Bonnie Lech. At just six weeks old his family moved to Atkinson where James and his brother Jason grew up and shared a love for sports, especially baseball. He was an exceptional golfer and basketball player for West Holt before graduating in 1995.

A few years later, James started his family in Lincoln where he had his first son Austyn, followed by Broghan and Caeden before moving his family to be raised in Atkinson. He shared his passion for sports, hunting, and fishing with his boys.

James was undeniably a kind friend to his community. He was quick to give a smile, share a laugh, and give a hand. He coached and volunteered for baseball, basketball, and golf teams over the years. Whether it be helping to mow a lawn, or being a shoulder to cry on, he was always there for those who needed him.

James knew the ethanol business well. Throughout most of his career, James worked as a truck driver. More recently, he loaded rail cars and managed truck drivers for Sandhills Renewable Energy.

He is survived by his children Austyn, Broghan, and Caeden and his parents Gary and Bonnie, and his grandfather Gary A Lech. The family will be holding a private service for James at Seger Funeral Home on Thursday the 29th.
