James B. Lee was born on May 5, 1950 in Randolph County, GA to the late Timothy & Narise Lee. James departed this life on January 27, 2026 at Trinitas Regional Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ.

James received his formal education through the Randolph County School System. Upon graduating, he relocated to Newark, New Jersey, where he established his adult life and career.

At an early age, James accepted Jesus Christ into his life and was a member of the Pleasant Grove AME Church in Benevolence, GA.

James spent many years employed with Grossman before continuing his career journey as a devoted independent contractor driver.

James will be remembered for his strength, dedication to family, and the quiet impact he made on all who knew and loved him.

James was preceded in death by his lifelong partner, Evonne Chitty, son James "Jamie" Lee, parents Timothy & Narise Lee, and 7 siblings Timothy Jr Lee., Jeffroe Lee, Roosevelt Lee, William Lee, Minnie Downie, Claudia Gary and Virginia Hightower.

James leaves to treasure his loving memory to: one daughter, Lisa (John) Green of Albany, GA; two sons, Shawn Chitty of Irvington, NJ and Kristen Lee of Newark, NJ; seven grandchildren: Eddie B. Wesley, Niesha (Toni) Graddy, Imani Chitty, Asia Chitty, Asia Chitty, Sahmir Lee and Kaison Lee; three great-grandchildren: Jameri, Matthew and Kaiden Wesley; three sisters: Lucy Lee of Irvington, NJ, Barbara Flowers of McDonough, GA, and Mary McGee of Hampton, GA; one brother: Eddie Lee Sr. of Union, NJ; one goddaughter, Janice Lee and a host of relatives and friends.
