James LeVert Obituary

LEVERT, James "Jim" Adair

James "Jim" Adair LeVert was born March 12, 1931, and died at his home on February 11, 2025. Jim was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Eugene Harold LeVert and Cora Mae LeVert (Bond).

He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson Law School in 1959, and was employed by the Atlanta Transit System in the legal department. He worked for several insurance companies and law firms until 1996 when he started his own business.

Jim met his beloved wife Gloria in high school, they married in 1950, and were married for 70 years. They had three daughters, eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

In 1965 he founded the Gresham Park Boating Club. He wrote the by-laws, registered it with the state and succeeded in obtaining a lease of 13 acres from the Corp of Engineers at Clark Hill Lake. He retired from the club in 2019, to care for his wife.

Jim was a member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church and was a Methodist his entire life. He was a devoted family man. He loved to travel and traveled all over the world with Gloria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gloria Roland LeVert; his brothers, Eugene LeVert and Donald LeVert; and two grandsons, James Gardner and Joshua Gardner. He is survived by daughters, Randalyn (Tommy) Smith, Penny (Russell) Gardner, Cathy (Jeff) Paulen; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on February 22, 2025, at 2:00, in the chapel at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, a cause Jim supported.

Jim LeVert was a gracious southern gentleman. Jim and Gloria always made our "girlfriend group of Cathy´s". feel as if we were part of the family.
Jim had a talent for putting a smile on the face of anyone in his presence. Knowing him was a privilege. That man exemplified. JOY and LOVE !
We will miss Jim,s funny flirtatious ways .
THANK YOU CATHY for sharing him with us .
Much Love,
Renee, Paige , Maggie and Mary
