Mr. James Liggett, age 93, of Lewisburg, TN, passed away July 11, 2025 in Lewisburg. Mr. Liggett was born November 9, 1931 in Bedford County, TN to the late John Myrtle Liggett and Lottie Mae Conner Liggett. In addition to his parents, Mr. Liggett was preceded in death by his wife Ima Faye Liggett who passed in 2011, siblings Evelyn Lands, Beatrice Stewart, J.C Liggett, and Lily Sharp.
Mr. James was retired from Faber Castell and enjoyed working there as a machinist. While growing up, you would often find James coon hunting and spending time outdoors. James would also be seen with his wife, Ima Faye Liggett, out square dancing. Mr. James was a proud Army Veteran having served in the Korean War Era. He enjoyed gardening, farming, and helping anyone around him. James was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching their games daily during the season. Most of all, he adored and loved his family.
Mr. James Liggett is survived by his son, Wayne (Teresa) Liggett of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Sandra (Tom) Weaver of Petersburg, TN; a brother, Charles Liggett of Estill Springs, TN; a sister, Betty Jean Fuller of Lewisburg, TN; grandchildren, Brandi (Tye) Hargrove, Chris Cathey; great grandchildren, Madison Hargrove, Blayze Hargrove, Charity Cathey, Kaleb Cathey, and Krissy Cathey; and a special friend Sandy Wilson.
The visitation with the Liggett family will be Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2PM until 6PM at Lawrence Funeral Home. The family will also visit Monday, July 14, 2025 from 10AM – 11AM. The funeral service will take place Monday July 14, 2025 at 11AM from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating. An internment will follow at Hopper Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to any Alzheimer’s Association of your choice.
