James Bernard Lippert, 64, Aneta, ND, passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

James was born on March 27th, 1961, at Northwood Hospital, Northwood, ND to Charles (Vinny) and Betty Lippert. James grew up in Aneta helping on the family farm alongside his Uncle Bernard, father Vinny and his siblings, David, Charles, Margaret, Denise and Michael.

James relocated to Sturgis, SD. There he met Stephanie Powers who he married on July 22nd, 1994. Together they had a daughter, Sierra.

James worked at the Peabody Coalmine located in Gillette, WY for 13 years before retiring due to injury. James returned to Aneta in 2016 and resumed his love of farming. He was employed and enjoyed working with area farms, including Tim Brekke Farms for several years and most recently with Mikkelson Farms until the time of his passing. James had a very high passion for farming and thoroughly enjoyed the years spent with his employers.

James was loved by many and will be missed by many. He enjoyed visiting with people whether at the Whitetail Bar, Farmers Union or wherever they would meet up. He enjoyed driving around on his golf cart, side by side and his pickup, stopping several times to chat with anyone and everyone. He enjoyed his quiet life and his small-town life.

James is survived by his daughter, Sierra Lippert. He is also survived by his siblings, David (Patty) Lippert, Denise (Curt) Knutson and Michael Lippert, sister-in-law, Julie Lippert and brother-in-law, Steven Tande. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles (Vinny) and Betty, his brother, Charles and sister, Margaret.

A celebration of life will be held for James at the Whitetail Bar in Aneta on October 18th, 2025, starting at 4:30 pm. Please come join us as we all share special memories of James.
