A Graveside Funeral service, with Military Honors, and Interment for James Aaron Lyons, Jr., MD, 90, will be Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Crane Hill, Alabama, with David Whitten officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No Visitation is scheduled,
Dr. Lyons passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his residence. He was born August 30, 1934, in Jefferson County, to James Aaron Lyons, Sr. and Mary Louise Alley Lyons.
Dr. Lyons was a Baptist and served as a Deacon over the years. He also served with the Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief Team and was the Disaster Relief Chaplain. He was a member of the American Legion and was a Rotary Club member in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Dr. Lyons was an E.N.T. Physician, for Lyons and Depoyster E.N.T., prior to his retirement. He also was a Veteran of the United States Army with the rank of Captain and served in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include
Wife - Sondra Nelson Lyons,
Sons - James Gregory Lyons (Kim Moses Lyons),
Alan Dale Lyons (Melodie Hadaway Lyons), and
Michael Robert Lyons (Kelley Wolff Lyons),
Daughter - Katheryn Lyons Foreman (Paul Jackson Foreman),
Brother - John Charles Lyons (Vicki Turner Lyons),
Twelve Grandchildren
Nineteen Great Grandchildren
His grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, Family requests memorials be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
