James H. Magson, 94, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2024 at his home in New Salem Ma. Born in New Britain on February 4, 1930, he was the son of the late James S. Magson and Helen Osden. James was a US Airforce veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
He leaves a son, James S. Magson and his fiance Deborah Adams of North Haven; three daughters, Susan Stone and her husband George of Massachusetts; Kathleen Pilchman and her husband Lawrence of North Carolina; and Carol Honea and her husband Thomas of Georgia.
James and Helen were faithful members of the Hilltop Covenant church in Cromwell Ct. He loved to sing and he laughed boldly. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed holidays and gatherings with his family, including his 18 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. James was predeceased by his wife Helen (Sifodaskalakis) Magson; one brother, Robert Magson; and three sisters, Helen Miller, Marylin Capen, and Dorothy Nappi.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 9, 11:00 am at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Sq, New Britain. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain. Calling hours are 10:00 am at the funeral home on the day of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bethany Covenant Church, Berlin Ct.
