James Mahan passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, in Cookeville, Tennessee.
James was born and raised in White County, Tennessee on March 22, 1947, and lived there for the entirety of his life.
James was a woodworker for most of his life but later worked with his son Kenneth at Mahan's Auto Salvage. He continued to be involved in the family business even after his retirement and could often be found there.
James has been known by many nicknames, but his favorite was always "Pa"
James enjoyed a job well done, his classic car collection, antique tractors, friendships he has made over many years and most of all, time with his family.
James was known for his hard work, helpful attitude and the uncanny ability to always make people laugh.
Mr. Mahan is preceded in death by his daughter Daisy Mahan, mother Callie Lafever Mahan, sister Geneva Cooper, brothers, Roscoe Mahan, Junior Mahan, Leslie Mahan, and John Wesley Mahan.
He is survived by his wife Mary Seabolt Mahan, son Kenneth Mahan (Gloria), daughter Amy Robbins (Brent) and his grandchildren: Savanna Mahan, Libby Harvey, Kendra Reed, C.J. Mahan, Will Robbins, and Abby Robbins as well as six Great- Grand Children and a brother R.L. Mahan.
Services for Mr. Mahan will be on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1PM in the Chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with burial at Perkins Cemetery in Baxter, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 4-8PM and on Thursday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
