James Martzen, 72, of Clinton Township, Waymart, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 after a tragic accident. He was the beloved husband of Julie Palko Martzen. They would have been married 55 years in December.

Born July 17, 1951 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Stephen and Eva (Barna) Martzen.

James graduated from Waymart High School and went on to serve in the National Guard. Raised on the family dairy farm, he enjoyed the simple things in life like antique tractors, and making homemade kielbasa. In his younger years, Jimmy enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. Most recently, he looked forward to taking rides on the side-by-side. He truly loved to work and especially enjoyed what he did at Henshaw Trucking. He was grateful for the many friendships he had there. A kind and giving man with a deep faith, Jimmy always wanted to help people. More than anything, Jimmy cared about his family. He will be remembered for his love and dedication to his wife and sons.

In addition to his wife Julie, he is also survived by two sons; David Martzen and his wife Annie of Waymart, and Michael Martzen of Irwin, Idaho; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Martzen and a brother in infancy.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in Keen Cemetery, 25 Elk Lake Drive, Waymart, PA with Pastor Sal Maiorana officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no viewing.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 beginning at 1:00 PM at The Crossroads, 296 Belmont Turnpike, Waymart, PA 18472.
