James Arthur Mauldin

James Arthur Mauldin, age 88, passed away December 3, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born August 3, 1937, in Ozan, Arkansas to Olen and Viola Mauldin.
James had a fifth-grade education. He dropped out of school to help his family when his father had an accident. James lived by working with his hands. He hauled logs with his brothers, laid carpet, and worked at various furniture stores and eventually, worked as a sexton at First Presbyterian Church. His mother before her passing, told James, "Son, that is the last job you will have." James retired there at the age of 65 after 25 years of service.
James had been in a loving relationship with his beautiful wife Shirley for over 62 years. He asked her out while she was working at a café in Hot Springs. They had two children together and created a house of love and peace. James loved people and had a wonderful sense of humor. He survived cancer, gave his life to Jesus and eventually, became a Deacon at Grace Apostolic Church, where his son serves as Pastor. He loved his wife, was his daughter's greatest defender, and loved to call his son his pastor.
James is predeceased by his parents, son Stanley Mauldin, sisters Ola Mae Mauldin, Katherine Caudell, Edith Wright, and Benita Royse, brothers Curtis Mauldin, Charles Mauldin, and Erman Mauldin. Survivors include his wife Shirley, daughter Shirlene (Paul), son Harold (Liz), granddaughter Crystal Breshears, grandsons Ray Breshears (Kendra) Derek Mauldin, Jared Mauldin and Jennie Evett, great grandsons Gavin and Elijah, many extended family, friends, and 'good people.
'Pallbearers are Derek Mauldin, Jared Mauldin, Ray Breshears, W.C. Hefley, Andrew Goodin, and Tony Sandage.
Honorary pallbearers include the members of Grace Apostolic Church, Quapaw Nursing Home and Elite Hospice. A special thank you to his Quapaw buddy, Miss Bianca.
Services will be at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6th with Bishop Richard Humphreys, Pastor Harold Mauldin and Rev. Tim Virnig officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00-10:00 A.m.
Burial to follow service at Morning Star Cemetery.
