James A. McBride, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on December 7, 1933, in Morton, Mississippi, James was a lifelong resident of the area, embodying the spirit and values of his hometown throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nellie Davis McBride, who stood by his side through the years, and his two cherished children: son James F. McBride, married to Brenda, and daughter Ann, married to Richard Ivy. James was immensely proud of his family, which included seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought great joy and love into his life.
James had a deep passion for family, and he made it a priority to spend quality time with them. Known as an avid reader, he found solace in books and sought to expand his knowledge throughout his lifetime. His interests extended to outdoor pursuits; he was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, often enjoying these activities alongside his family, creating lasting memories in the process.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Lucille Crapps McBride, as well as his son Joe McBride and all his siblings. Their memories will be held dear by those who loved him.
Visitation for James A. McBride will be held on June 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton. A funeral service will take place the following day, June 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes, culminating with a burial at Morton Memorial Gardens at 12:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a wonderful man who touched the lives of many.
