Mike was an outstanding attorney. If there were a Hall of Fame for Pennsylvania Firearms Attorneys, Mike's work would be prominently displayed there. His cases regarding the Mental Health Procedures Act would probably require an entire wing in the Hall, because he may very well hold the all time record for victories.
More importantly, Mike was a great man and a great friend. Like I'm sure many people will, I'll miss our conversations and his wise advice. He loved the Lord and wasn't shy about it. He loved his sister, his niece, and of course, his dog. This world lost one of the great ones, and we'll miss him dearly.

To piggyback on Doc Gunn's message, Mike would often comment that "shooting is primarily a mental discipline and that is bad news for some people". Mike said this in jest but also commented that there is truth to it. Mike proved this by remaining a remarkable handgun shooter even as his physical health declined.
While few know it, the good people of Pennsylvania are deeply indebted to Mike McCormick. Mike was a steadfast patriot who donated his very considerable expertise working with grassroots activists to defend our rights as guaranteed under both Constitutions.
Mike carried out this unpaid volunteer legislative work for decades, working primarily with Kim Stolfer and myself and others. Pennsylvania laws are much better than they would have been without his input.
In addition to helping us and legislators and staff better understand the law, Mike was a genuinely good person who was intolerant of evil, especially fashionable evils. He always remained civil and fought with knowledge and reason.
Mike had a tremendous faith in God and often told me privately that he was delighted to have found a true minister in Douglas Rehberg
We are greatly diminished by his passing.
Goodbye my friend.

In addition to working tirelessly to support the 2A in Pennsylvania, Mike was a Allegheny County Volunteer Deputy Sheriff. As such, he needed to qualify on their 30 Round Off Duty Course. He shot a 300 (perfect score) electing to use a 1.875" SCANDIUM or TITANIUM S&W J-frame with their Duty 158 LHP .38 Spl+P loads. ("NYPD Load.") A few days later he handed me that ultralight-weight revolver and 5 of those cartridges. I fired two (maybe one?) and gave it back to him with the rest of the cartridges intact. I'd much rather fire a full-house .44 Magnum in a steel gun! We coined the term "hurtyourhandium" and I resolved to never purchase a J-frame made of anything lighter than aluminum!
May Mike's Good Soul rest peacefully in God's Perfect Grace.
