James J. "Jay" McDonald, of Malden, passed away suddenly on October 7th in Boston. Jay was born in 1971, the son of James and Sandra McDonald. He was raised in Chelsea, and after completing his education, he worked in private security and then went on to work for the Portland Group in the warehouse. Jay enjoyed scouting as a youth and became active with the Boy Scout Troop 613 in Malden as an Assistant Scout Master. He also enjoyed music, and loved to attend live concerts.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer S. McDonald of Somerville, Anthony M. McDonald of Medford, William H. McDonald of Medford, and Nicholas A. McDonald of Medford, his mother, Sandra McDonald of Malden, his brother, Michael McDonald of Canton, his sister, Althea Brooks and her husband Steve of Hamilton, NY, and his Godparents, Valeria and Bruce Gorrell of Billerica, as well as three nieces, two nephews, several Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, James P. McDonald.

A celebration of life will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem ST, Malden on Friday, October 15th, from 4 – 8 PM.

One of my favorite moments with my father is when he brought me to the Ozzy Osborne concert it was amazing and it was really good to spend time with him not just as father and son but as a friend as well. He will be missed.

As far as my first memory was Christmas when I was Maybe 3 or 4 all of us sitting around the tree and James/DAD was passing out presents
