James E. McMorris Jr., age 63, of Hampton, GA passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 11, 1960 to James E. McMorris, Sr. and Patsy Meacham McMorris.
Jims family moved to Georgia in the 1970s. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1978, and then attended the University of Georgia for two years where he became an even bigger GA Bulldog fan. He went on to eventually become a real estate agent and then finally a land agent in the energy industry for the last eight years. He was an extremely smart, determined, and resourceful renaissance-type of man with many talents from crafting anything you needed from scratch, fixing almost anything that was broken, being the best grill master around, to accomplishing most anything he set his mind to.
His favorite things to do included golfing, enjoying a GA Bulldog victory, feeding his passion for muscle cars (including his restored 1970 Z28 Camaro), spoiling his dogs (Mick and Maggie), cooking dinners for his family, and spending quality time with his family and close friends. His sense of humor was unmatched and he always had a hilarious saying to contribute to any situation. He was a kind and loving husband, a wonderful and attentive father, a loving son, and an invaluable friend. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his father James (Carol) E. McMorris, Sr., his mother Patsy Meacham McMorris, his wife Felicia R. McMorris, his daughter Taylor R. McMorris, his sister Pamela (Clay) May, his brothers Todd Dunaway and Ty (Summer) Dunaway, along with his niece and numerous nephews (Eric Oesterling, Samuel Oesterling, Isaac Oesterling, Sean May, Dalton Dunaway, Morgan Chamberlin, Luke Chamberlin, and Ethan Chamberlin).
He is preceded in death by his sister Traci (Pete) Chamberlin, his brother Tripp Dunaway, his sister-in-law Kim Dunaway, and his stepmother Martha McMorris.
A private celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 21st from 1:00 pm 4:00 pm in Fayetteville, GA for family, close friends, and colleagues via invitation only. Those who wish, may send an online sympathy card sharing their stories about Jim to the family at https://www.southerncrescentcrematorium.com/obits.
