WORCESTER/SPENCER: James F. Messier of Worcester and formerly of Spencer, died suddenly, Thursday, Jan. 29th at his home.He leaves his sister; Diane M. Robbins and her husband Russell of Dennis, his brothers; Richard A. Messier and his wife Kay of Sutton, Stephen J. Messier and his wife Becky of Auburn and Kenneth A. Messier and his wife Yanwei of Charlestown, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers; Ronald C. Messier in 2012 and David Messier in 1954.Jim worked at the US Post Office Distribution Center in Shrewsbury for many years prior to his retirement. He previously was a computer programmer.He was born in Worcester, the son of Francis G. and Marie T. (Pothier) Messier and later graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer, Class of 1970. He then earned a bachelor's degree at UMASS Amherst, Class of 1974. Jim was an avid bowler. He was a volunteer usher at the Hanover Theater in Worcester for many years. He was a dedicated New England Sports Fan and especially with his alma mater David Prouty High School where he attended many of their games. A Memorial Service for Jim will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7th at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 am. Burial will be in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to David Prouty Permanent Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 172, Spencer, MA 01562.
