James Alex Micheau, 78, of Escanaba, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at UP Health System – Marquette.
He was born on March 24, 1947 in Escanaba, son to Peter H. and Ilene M. (O'Donnell) Micheau. James graduated from Holy Name High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
James began a career as a Boilermaker and often traveled the country over the years before he retired. He was better known to his Boilermaker brothers as "The Witch Doctor."
On July 14, 1998, James married the former Kathy Ann (Spencer) in Rochester, MN.
James loved all Detroit sports teams, especially the Redwings. He enjoyed classic rock and muscle cars including his "68 Jag. But most importantly was his love for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Among survivors include his wife, Kathy; two sons, Jason (Angie) Micheau of Gladstone and Chris (Mallory) Micheau of Escanaba; grandchildren, Abigail Micheau, Jake Micheau, and Steven Micheau; two brothers, Dennis (Sue) Micheau and Troy (Hope) Micheau; and niece and nephews, Melanie Micheau, Tom Hubert, Jeremy Micheau, Nick Micheau, Jared Micheau, and Owen Micheau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Micheau and niece, Tammy Hubert.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 16th from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. Military honors will take place at 4 p.m. and the funeral service will follow with Rev. Tim Ferguson officiating.
Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to James' family and a memorial will be established at a later date.
