James S. Monroe, Jr. age 72 of Ashland, WI passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at his residence. James was born Feb. 4, 1953 in Ashland, WI the son of James S. and Beatrice L. (Blake) Monroe, Sr.
James was an Ashland High School graduate, class of 1971. In 1979, James became the owner of the Office Bar in Ashland, a place where he built many lasting friendships and memories. His presence in the community was felt by all who knew him. On October 19, 1996, James married Dorothy "Dottie" Mihalek, who was by his side throughout his journey. Together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dottie Monroe; his son Michael (Kayla) Monroe; grandchildren Bailey, Eliana, and Emelia Monroe; sister Kay Monroe, along with many close friends who were like family to him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James "Monk" S. Monroe, Sr., and Beatrice L. Monroe; sister Nancy; and uncle William Blake.
A Memorial Service for James will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday March 19, 2025 at the Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland, WI with Deacon Clarence Campbell officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the hour of the service at the Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland.
Interment will follow the service in St. Agnes Cemetery, in Ashland, WI.
