Jermaine Monroe was born on May 27, 1982, in
New Orleans, Louisiana, to Hilda Monroe-Howard and Richard Howard Jr. He was one of four children: Arie Howard, Shasta Monroe-Porter, and Catrice Monroe.
Jermaine was raised in New Orleans and educated in the New Orleans Public School System. He graduated from Alcee Fortier High School, where his sharp mind and generous spirit began to shine.
After graduation, Jermaine proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor for five years as a Damage Control Officer. His time in the Navy reflected his deep sense of duty, discipline, and resilience, qualities he carried with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Jermaine worked for American West, the American Queen Steamboat Company, and most recently, Vigilant Security, where he continued to demonstrate integrity, reliability, and professionalism in all he did.
On November 24, 2018, Jermaine married his childhood sweetheart, Wynisha Palmore-Monroe. Their bond was rooted in love, faith, and friendship. Together, they raised four beautiful children: Sincere Sartin, Syron Sartin, Da'Nae Thomas, and JaLaila Monroe. Being a father was one of Jermaine's greatest joys, and he devoted himself fully to his family.
Those who knew Jermaine will remember his clever wit, infectious humor, quiet strength, and gentle spirit.
He was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. A passionate fan of the New Orleans Saints, Jermaine never missed a game and cheered on his team with unmatched enthusiasm. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. One of his fondest traditions was watching wrestling with his father on Monday nights, his dad was more than a parent; he was Jermaine's best friend.
Jermaine passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at home, surrounded by those he loved. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Saidie and Andrus Monroe, and Laurena and Richard Howard Sr.; aunts Joyce Hall, Bunny Anderson, Ella Allen, Thelma Diggs, Brenda Howard, Cassandra Howard, Ernestine Palmer, and Marilyn Monroe; uncles Walter Howard, Willie Howard, Melvin Howard, Sam Howard, Albert Howard, Dennis Howard, and Oscar Howard; brother-in-law Joseph Porter Sr.; and mother-in-law Rosalie Palmore.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wynisha Palmore-Monroe; his cherished children, Sincere Sartin, Syron Sartin, Da'Nae Thomas, and JaLaila Monroe; and his godchildren Dominique Lambert, Zion Jones, Da'Miah McGuire, and Avery Lambert. He leaves behind his devoted parents, Hilda and Richard Howard; his siblings Arie Howard, Shasta Monroe-Porter, and Catrice Monroe (Charles Ferguson); and siblings at heart Marilyn Monroe-Jones (Lorenzo Jones Sr.) and Edsel Stalks. Also mourning his passing are his sisters-in-law Chiquita Starks, Aviance Page (Shaun Page), and Vantrell Miller; brothers-in-law McArthur Palmore Sr. (Jerry Palmore) and Cardell Palmore; his nephews Derrick Pinkney Jr., Christian Ferguson, Jerry Howard, Joseph Porter III, Jarrell Porter, Jonquil Porter, Jarad Porter, and Chase Monroe; his nieces Miracle Howard and Davisha Howard; two great-nieces, one great-nephew; five devoted aunts-Jacqueline Monroe (Joseph Graves), Lisa Lambert (Ronnie Lambert), Erica Monroe-Dillworth (Donald Dillworth), Jennifer Miller, and Antionette Bradstreet; one uncle, Donald Howard-and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
Jermaine's life was a quiet force of love, strength, and humility. He served his country with pride, loved his family fiercely, and brought joy to everyone he met. A loyal Saints fan, a devoted father, a loving son and husband, and a true friend, his gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
