Etta Dillon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhodes Funeral Home - Washington Avenue on Oct. 23, 2025.

Etta Dean Dillon 62, also known as Deanie or Black was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 2, 1963. Etta transitioned on October 9, 2025. She goes on to join her father Johnny Dillon Sr., her mother Iola Bobby Dillon and her siblings Denise Dillon Jackson, Darrel Dillon, and Diane Dillon. Etta is survived by her three children LaShonda, Shontae, and Isaiah Dillon, her grandson Ka'ssiah Demond Dillon, siblings Dwayne Dillon Sr. and Johnny Dillon Jr.
Extended family Sharon Ford, Shanice Hunter, and Shabraille Raymond.
Etta was real close with her lord and savior. She believed in him with everything she done. In the middle of conversations with people she would quote a bible verse and say, "Now if you believe in the word stop worrying". After church she would make her kids repeat everything they learned in church that day and it better be more than one thing. She prayed every day for everyone she can think of even if she met you at the gas station two minutes ago. Her and her friend Ms. Chanel use to sit on the phone for hours just listening to new gospel music. She was very opened with anyone she met about what the lord has done for her, was doing for her, and was going to do for her.
Deanie enjoyed spending time with family, going to the casino and cooking big meals with her kids. She had a very big heart; she was very loving and sweet. Deanie was a big people's magnet, once you met her you were attached forever. It didn't matter who you were, she was always welcoming and a joy to be around. Her sister Denise use to say she missed her calling as a comedian because she was naturally funny. At your lowest point she can always make you laugh or smile.
Etta was very supportive when it came to her kids and sports. She was their biggest fan, attended every game, and cheered like it was the last. Also, their biggest critic, good or bad she was honest about how she felt, but nevertheless she always showed up. Everyone loved to see her at the games because they knew a time was about to be had. She was exciting, loud, engaged with fans and all the kids.
Her nickname was very unique because it was actually her nickname for everyone else. If she looked at you as someone she was cool with or a friend your name was Black. Black was her way of greeting you, loving you and accepting you. She was someone you can talk to about anything even if it was uncomfortable.
No matter what she was always there. As we go on remember her for her smile, her heart, the life lessons she taught and that way she will always be.
