Mildred Victorian Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhodes Funeral Home - Washington Avenue on Oct. 17, 2025.
Born Mildred Guerin to the union of Adele and Augustine Guerin on August 27, 1925 in Pointe Coupee Parish, she entered this life. Mildred was educated in New Roads at St. Augustine Catholic School. She was a devout catholic and completed her sacraments in the Catholic Church. She and her Husband, Wilson Victorian, Sr., were blessed with two amazing children; Vera "Vee Fire Queen" Sterling and Wilson "June Victory" Victorian, Jr. Mildred and Wilson raised their kids in the Catholic Church and educated them in Catholic Schools. Mildred remained a devoted and caring to Wilson until his death.
They built a beautiful life for themselves. Mildred worked at the historic Venice Garden Market and even Roma Restaurant while supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of Wilson. She and Wilson were Black Excellence. Everyone loved to watch them dance and enjoyed being in their company. They integrated the Broadmoor Area by purchasing a stately home on the Parkway more than 50 years ago. Mildred loved sitting on her screened porch at a home known for the flamboyant color. Her drink of choice earned her the nickname "Pony Red." She entertained her family and friends with fabulous holiday parties. Her signature dishes were her Gumbo; Red Beans and she was notorious for making any dish taste delightful.
Mildred was fashion forward and known for her beautiful outfits and fine fragrances. She was the epitome of elegance and always knew it. She gave of herself to her family until the end and will be loved and missed by all of them. Mildred is preceded in death her loving husband, Wilson, Sr.; her doting parents, Adele and Augustine; her siblings: Rose Antoine, Beulah Moore, Irene Terrance, Rogers, Murphy, Edward and Albert Guerin; and her goddaughter Elsie Laurent Domino. She leaves behind two children, Vera and "June" (Ivory); fifteen grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 44 great-great grandchildren; and, a host of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4230 S. Broad Street on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am to 10:45 am. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangement by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue.
