JAMES MONTMAN

July 24, 2025
Jim was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Mike and Betty. He moved to Albuquerque when he was three and graduated from Highland High School in 1965. He is survived by his brothers, Curt (Carol) and Richard (Lisa).
Jim married Carolyn Wilder in 1969. They had three children: Lisa Montman, Michelle Talley (Kevin), and Barbara Bennett (Steve), as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He earned his B.S. from New Mexico State University and joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation, where he served for 26 years before retiring as a decorated Colonel.
Following his military career, Jim became the Santa Fe Airport Manager, where he led the expansion of the airport to accommodate commercial airlines. He later retired from the City of Santa Fe.
Jim passed away in Santa Fe, surrounded by family. He will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
