James Claitor (Jimmy) Moore
Carthage, MS
James Claitor Moore, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born to Claitor Hampton Moore and Aurice Wasson Moore on April 12, 1947, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was a long-time resident of Carthage, Mississippi. He was an avid church goer and a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as president of his Sunday School Class.
Jimmy is being laid to rest on Monday, September 9 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Services are being held at Trinity Baptist Church, with visitation from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am at the church. Pallbearers included Tommy Malone, James McRae, Dale Johnson, Lonzo Jones, Jimmy Ingram, David Shelley, Jeff Rhinewalt, Bill Kitchens, and Eddie Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were the Trinity Baptist Men's Sunday School Class.
Jimmy loved volunteering with the Marydell Fire Department and Leake County Fire Department, serving as both secretary and treasurer for many years. His greatest enjoyment came from building crosses for members in the community and organizing preacher articles in The Carthaginian where he worked for 20 plus years.
He passed away Friday, September 6, at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Moore; seven children, Stephanie Moore Price (Ross), Stephen Moore (Stephanie), Wade Moore (Misty), Whitney Moore Pettit (Hart), Ashley Moore House (Davis), Heath Mansell (Haley), and Hilary Bell. his legacy will continue with his 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Rev. John Moore, also a native of Kosciusko.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Claitor Moore, his sister, Ruby Moore Bowie, and his in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Clifton Wallace.
