James Michael Morris passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, with family by his side. He was 76 years young.

Known to most as "Mike," he is survived by Jennifer Davidson Morris; his children, Tamara Morris and Joshua Morris (Emily); his brothers Steve Morris (Rosa) and Dale Morris (Kelly); and a long list of loved ones who will miss "Bubba" dearly.

Born in Talladega, Alabama, to Sue Bryant and Bryce Morris, Mike's favorite stories of growing up with three brothers are of playing games like kick the can and "I'll trade you this big nickel for your small dime." He was a Florida-ranked tennis player at Pahokee High School and went on to play junior college tennis before enlisting in the United States Navy, with the goal of becoming a hospital corpsman.

Mike proudly served 20 years in the Navy and reached the rank of Chief Hospital Corpsman. Among his favorite accomplishments were being a plankowner on the USS Nimitz, being officially transferred to Fleet Reserve by his brother Major Steve Morris, USAF, and winning a "best legs" competition at Naval Air Station Orlando in the late 1980s.

After retirement, Mike devoted himself to family life as "Mr. Mom" to Tammy and Josh, later working as an OSHA Safety Officer while staying active in his community. Mike beat cancer-twice. He was known for his gigantic heart, love of Coca-Cola, epic dad jokes, and of course, Alabama football.

To his family, he was simply the best. Best dad, best friend, just the best.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date; please request notification for final details.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's honor to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Go Navy. Roll Tide. God bless. LHK
