Jim was a loving husband and father. He extended his love and kindness to anyone he met. Early in life Jim loved football and was a fierce competitor playing for UNC in 1965 as well as other championship leagues.
After college he joined the Airforce, making it a life choice. He had served tours of duty in Europe and Iceland, our family had wonderful time. He was a loving and devoted father.
After retirement Jim and Wife Rita settled in Charlotte. They lived in Waxhaw, NC and Jim was often seen riding his mower, helping neighbors and children learn how to ride bikes. He was an avid gardener as well as a devoted husband, father, and friend.
Calling hours will be from 1 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
Funeral services will be at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with committal services following in Sharon Memorial Park.
