Jim Mossey, 80, of Edina, MN and formerly of Hopkinsville, KY and Elkhart and Bristol, IN died suddenly from a heart attack on October 11, 2024 in Edina, MN.
Jim was born on March 16, 1944, in Takoma Park, Maryland. He and his parents soon relocated to Bristol, where Jim had many happy memories of his childhood spent on Indiana Lake. After becoming a track, baseball, and basketball legend at Bristol High School, Jim attended Purdue University. He subsequently joined the University of Notre Dame's inaugural MBA class of 1969, where he made several lifelong friends.
Jim married the lovely Pamela Heinrich on November 25, 1972. Together they raised three wonderful children, primarily in Hopkinsville, where Jim worked in business and manufacturing. Jim and Pam moved to Edina in 2002, where he became a part-time business consultant and a full-time grandpa. Jim adored his nine grandchildren. He was their ultimate super-fan, evidenced by countless family photos of him happily cheering in the stands at every youth sporting event and dance competition.
Jim was an avid reader, and could always be found in his book-lined basement with a large cup of coffee. While he was raised on White Sox baseball, there was never a more fervent Twins fan. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, singing along loudly to oldies in the car, telling mildly inappropriate jokes, fishing, playing cards, and taking long walks through the neighborhood. Jim loved all books, but he particularly enjoyed reading his Bible, an interest which led him to join the men's Bible study group at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Here, Jim found great conversations and wonderful friendships which carried him through the rest of his life.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jim is survived by his wife, Pam, his sister, Melissa Kerrick (Steve); his children, Laura Soderling (Steve), Jeff (Stefanie), and Katy DeAngelo (Tim); and his grandchildren Will, Anna, Olivia, Molly, Jacob, Grace, Luke, Jonah and Liam. His love and laughter will be greatly missed.
A private funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Edina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Edina, 5421 France Avenue S. Edina, MN 55410.
