HENDERSON- James ("Jim") Woodrow Nethery, Jr., 87, passed away December 3, 2024 at home following a period of declining health. Born November 28, 1937, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Janie Young Averette Nethery and James Woodrow Nethery, Sr. He enjoyed his career with Variety Wholesalers and Roses Stores where he created lifelong friendships. Jim was a member of Central Baptist Church and former deacon.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Nethery of the home. Also surviving is son Scott Nethery and wife Lisa of Lewisville, NC and their family including grandchildren Makayla Nethery, Michael Sipkay, Nicholas Sipkay, and Elizabeth Sipkay; son Patrick Nethery and wife Holly of Wake Forest, and their family including grandchildren Ava Nethery, Lucas Nethery and Benjamin Nethery; and a sister, Bettie N. Edwards of Henderson. He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Riggan.
Jim enjoyed time spent with friends and family at his Saturday morning breakfast outings. He also enjoyed time spent with the extended families of Johnny and Barbara Riggan, Bill and Bettie Edwards, and Sue and Mark Ward. Summer family reunions in Henderson were special to him.
Funeral services will be held Friday December 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Central Baptist Church, 2574 Ruin Creek Rd, Henderson, NC 27537 by Pastors Allen Mustian and Alan McAlister. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm in the church fellowship hall. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Edwards, Bradley Edwards, Randy Riggan, John Cannady, Bobby Wilkerson, and J.J. Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 2574 Ruin Creek Rd, Henderson, NC 27537, in memory of Jim.
