In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings: Falen Newman, Joe Newman, Bob Newman, Alice Newman and Thaddeus Newman.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children: Tonita Newman of Durham, North Carolina, Tyrone Newman (Lydia) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Bobby Newman, also of Durham and James Cates of Oxford, North Carolina; special daughter, Tyesha Armstrong of Wilson, North Carolina; grandchildren: Felita Newman and Zariia Ross, both of Durham, Yari Newman of Mebane, North Carolina and Sincere Newman of Durham; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Faye Stanton and Edna Smith (Albert), both of Roxboro, Ruth Ramsey of Burlington, North Carolina, Jerry Newman (Edwina) of Hillsborough, North Carolina and Jesse Newman and Larry Newman, both of Roxboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 1:00pm at Cunningham & Associates Funeral Services with Elder John Jones, Associate Minister at Zion Christian Center, providing the eulogy. Burial will follow at the Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1635 Mill Hill Church Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574.
Visitation will also be Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00pm to 1:00pm when his body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
