ROCKY MOUNT – James Bernice Wester, "Rabbit", age 82, passed away on Monday September 8, 2025. Born in Franklin County, NC on April 11, 1943, he was the son of the late James Ben Wester and Sara Ellie Inscoe Wester. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Wester; his son, David Wester; his half-brothers, Horace Collie and Marvin Collie; and his sisters, Florine Odell Choe and Ruby Vogel.

James was a dedicated employee for over 30 years to Texify Industries. After retiring from Texify, James worked many years at Clean-Clean Dry Cleaners and served many years at Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services as a Funeral Service Attendant. James enjoyed every single day and never met a stranger. He was a family man, and extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He loved nothing better than spending time with them. He will be deeply missed. James made a difference in the life of everyone who knew him, and he leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 25 years, Margery Joyner Wester; his daughters, Teresa Cale, and husband, Myron, and Brenda Howell; his son, Gerald Wester; two grandchildren, Amber Bell, and husband Cameron, and Brock Cale; and one great-grandchild, Carter Bell, who was the love of his life.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Renee Edwards officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maple Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, 1938 NC Hwy 56 E Louisburg, NC.
