James Olson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Jan. 23, 2024.
James C. Olson, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2024, at the Suncoast Hospice Center in Palm Harbor, FL. Born on September 26, 1961, in McHenry, IL, Jim was a man of integrity with a heart full of kindness, who left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him.
Jim's passions include his love of storytelling, family history, music, planes, cars, and nature which he often captured through his photography. Additionally, he was eager to share his knowledge of these and many other subjects, often delivered with his signature wit.
Jim's life was characterized by his visual stories told through his lens as a photographer, a talent that he nurtured throughout his life. His keen eye for detail and his ability to capture the essence of a moment brought joy and wonder to those who experienced his work. Jim had a successful career as a business owner prior to the airline industry and later providing financial guidance to family and friends. His professional journey was marked by dedication, integrity, and the respect of his colleagues and clients.
Jim is survived by his son James M. Olson (Elise) and granddaughter, Lily, who captured his heart. It brought Jim comfort to know he would rejoice in Heaven with his father James W. Olson, his mother Antoinette Olson, and his favorite family members including Trixie pup.
James C. Olson's journey through life was one of creativity, service, and love. His legacy is etched in the lives he touched and the beauty he captured. Jim's presence will be missed, but the stories of his life will continue to inspire and comfort us for years to come.
In lieu of flowers, please look for information regarding 'Jimz Kidz'. Jimz Kidz will be publishing his photographic artwork with proceeds going to families affected by childhood diseases.
Service will be held at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor on Monday Feb. 5, 2024 @ 10:30 am followed by Internment at Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens in Palm Harbor.

I have many fond memories of Jim, "Little" Jimmy and Jim's parents and sisters. Jim and I would talk for hours about life, the airline industry and getting thru tough times. I'm so thankful Jim and his family were part of my life.

Many prayers for comfort to Jim's sisters and Jimmy's family. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like to chat.

Cannot believe he has left us in the physical world. We both enjoyed posting on the local Facebook group and one day we ran into each other. He took time to look over my son's fancy bike and even volunteered to help him fix it. I enjoyed Jim's incredible eye for capturing breathtaking photos, especially those of all the sunsets and animals and his witty humor could make me spontaneously laugh as I scrolled through Facebook landing on one of his humorous posts. He always made a point to say hi to me whenever we connected in that Facebook group. I moved away and when I checked in that group I noticed his photos weren't being posted and I decided to reach out to him. Sure enough he was not well, but still the same Jim I always remembered. I sent him a few photos of some sunsets I saw and I am so glad I did. Jim was a strong soul and really didn't want to worry anyone, so there wasn't much mention of what he was going through, quite a private person really. But he made it very clear to me how much he loved his son (and grandchild) via the way he wanted to protect him from his struggles as long as possible, he just wanted his son to be alright and keep doing his best enlach day.

Jim enjoyed his life it seemed by the few phone conversations we had towards the end of his life and I am glad for him for so many reasons.

I always think warmly of Jim especially when I take a special photo or see someone giving back to the community because Jim really cared about people and brightening his community.

I wish all his close family and friends and community members, my sincere condolences. Whenever you see a sunset that reminds you of one Jim would like, may you enjoy it, capture it and share it with others.

I am sorry I won't be able to attend the funeral being so far away, but I am there in thoughts and spirit. All my love, prayers and warm thoughts are sent your way. Sincerely, Breanna
