James “Jay” David Orr Sr., 82, of Lanesville, Indiana, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on December 3, 2025. James was born to Vincent Orr and Flora Waldroup on November 14, 1943.
James was a devoted and hard-working man who provided faithfully for his family throughout his life. He worked for 33 ½ years at the Indianapolis Ford Plant and retired in 2000. James married the love of his life, Christine, and the two shared a beautiful marriage until her passing in 2004.
James never met a stranger – he had a gift for seeing the best in everyone he encountered. While he loved his family deeply, he held a special spot for his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He was happiest with a project in hand, especially when working alongside his son, James Jr., and he cherished every moment spent outdoors, particularly while fishing. James‘ outgoing nature will be missed by all he knew.
James is preceded in death by his parents Vincent Orr, and Flora Waldroup; and his wife Christine Orr. He is survived by his son James (Kelly) Orr Jr, sister Bernice (Steven) Tully, niece Connie (Richie) Tully Kiser and Colton Kiser; grandchildren Jimmy (Jimbo), David, Kayla; and great-grandchildren Lincoln, and Kenzie.
Visitation for James will take place, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park Funeral home. Services will follow at 1:00pm with a burial at Memorial Park Cemetery where James will be laid to rest.
