James Robert Orth, 40, of Cedar Rapids, died at 9:38 AM Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Born September 8, 1981, in Sigourney, IA, he was the son of Edward R. and Delores R. Juettemeyer Orth.
He graduated from Burlington High School.
James enjoyed working at Goodwill of the Heartland.
He was of Catholic faith and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and Divine Mercy Parish in Burlington. He loved to participate in the Special Olympics, competing in many sports over the past 16 years; his favorites being power lifting and bike racing. He loved to go for bike rides, look at construction zones, camping, traveling and eating out; especially at Tornadoes in Cedar Rapids. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. He will be missed by everyone.
Survivors include three sisters, Angie (Dean) Walljasper of West Point, Beth Orth of Cedar Rapids, and Cindy (DJ) DiPrima of Augusta, IA; five brothers, Donald (Shirley) Orth, Daren (Amie) Orth, Gabe (Beth) Orth of Burlington, and Everett Orth all of Burlington, and Roy "Bubba" Orth of Augusta, IA; sister-in-law, Lori Orth of Burlington; grandmother, Pauline Seaba of Webster, IA; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends he made throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Justin, Josh and Eric.
The family will receive friends following a 3:00 PM Rosary Service until 6:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Orth will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. James Flattery as the Celebrant. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the fellowship hall of St. John's Church following the service. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Special Olympics.
