James Michael Pauley, a beloved father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, just days shy of his 87th birthday. Born on September 10, 1938, in Ione, Washington. He was the cherished son of Arthur Earl Pauley and Cornelia M. Bassett.
Mike was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ruth A. Pauley. He was also preceded by his parents, a brother Pat Pauley, and a daughter Julie A. Rivera.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Smith and Michelle Elam, and his son, Mike Pauley, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mike dedicated many years of his life to the lumber industry, having retired from Bennett Lumber Mill in Elk City, Idaho, where he worked as a boiler man he also was a sawyer and truck driver. His strong work ethic and commitment to his job were evident in every task he undertook.
He was an enthusiastic member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed gold panning and mining. Mike also cherished quiet moments spent with a good book.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
