James Petry, a cherished member of the Dallas community and a loving husband, passed away on April 28, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on September 1, 1966, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, James spent his life embodying warmth, generosity, and a spirited zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
As a mechanic who owned his own business, James was known not only for his skills but also for his approachable demeanor. His personality shone brightly; he was affectionately regarded as "Cowboy," "Bubba Boy," "June," "June Boy," and "Unc" by those who loved him. A quintessential Black cowboy, he embraced life with an open heart, never meeting a stranger and always ready to lend a helping hand. James loved his wife deeply, showcasing his commitment and love through countless acts of kindness and support.
James had a wide range of interests that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. His passions included fishing, fixing vehicles, hunting, cooking, and dancing, which brought joy and camaraderie to family gatherings and community events alike. He was an Avid New Orleans Saints Fan, he was also a preacher. He conducted Cowboy prison ministries. His friends and family remember him not just for his talents but also for his generosity of spirit and the love he had for everyone in his life.
One of James's proudest accomplishments was being the only male child in his family, a role he embraced wholeheartedly, often spoiled by his sisters. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate James's life with a prayer service on May 16, 2025, at 7:15 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. His funeral service will take place the following day, May 17, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Greater Mt. Hebron Bible Church, also in Dallas.
James Petry leaves behind a community that adored him and countless memories that will be cherished forever. His legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support will continue to inspire all who knew him.
