James Petschauer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Edina on Jan. 20, 2025.
James Richard Petschauer was born on February 21, 1953, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 71 at Mount Olivet Care View Assisted Living. Jim grew up in Edina and developed a lifelong passion for music. He was the drummer for a band called Birth and had a remarkable talent for playing the piano and keyboard entirely by ear. His love for music was matched by his appreciation for the outdoors: he enjoyed fishing, boating, and would bike throughout his life. Among his various occupations, Jim found particular joy in his work repairing electric razors at Remington Rand. He also drove a taxicab for a number of years. He is survived by his girlfriend Ronda; his father Richard; his sisters Cyndy Farnham (Dave) and Debbie Ryan (Phil); as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara. Jim will be remembered for his keen insights, compassion, and the hoy he brought to those who knew him. A private ceremony will be held with his family to honor his memory. www.Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996

I'm sorry to learn of Jim's passing. Jim and I were 6th grade classmates at Nativity of Mary School in Bloomington. Our interest in music led us to perform as a duo in the class talent show - Jim on flute, me on drums. Not a typical act. Jim obviously developed into a talented musician. Cool, soft-spoken guy I'm glad I met. Condolences to his family.
