James Phair Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sumner Voiles Funeral Chapel on Jun. 10, 2025.
James "Jim" Russell Phair, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, community member, neighbor, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, in Puyallup, Washington, at the age of 83.
Born on March 20, 1942, in Tacoma, WA, Jim spent most of his life in the Puyallup area and proudly graduated from Puyallup High School in 1960. After high school, he served six years in the National Guard, then built a long and successful career of 33 years with Farmer Brothers Coffee. He began in sales and, through hard work and his natural leadership, rose to become branch manager-a role he loved and excelled in until his retirement.
Jim had a rare gift for connection. He made friends wherever he went, and those lucky enough to meet him quickly saw why he was so deeply loved. Whether at the local Eagles club preparing breakfast, over coffee, on the sidelines of his grandchildren's games, or simply chatting with neighbors, Jim's warmth and humor left a lasting impression.
He found joy in many things: golfing, boating, woodworking, playing and watching sports, and working in the yard, not to mention the annual Christmas lights that made him legendary. Time at the family beach was especially cherished. Above all, Jim's greatest pride was his family, his life with his best friend and high school sweetheart Francie and seeing his three children all succeed in life and raise their families. And perhaps nothing made him happier than gathering for family dinners and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Phair, and his brother, Robby Phair. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Frances "Francie" Phair; daughters Melissa Ehlers (Jim), Melanie Egan (Chris); son Michael Phair (Bobbi); nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Lucine Lane (Jim); brother Bruce Phair (Diane); and many loving nieces and nephews that he adored.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Farm 12 Event Hall 3303 8th Ave SW Puyallup, WA 98372. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity in Jim's honor.
Jim Phair's kindness, laughter, and love will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.

I met Jim when I was working in the administration building at the Fair. He was always so positive, friendly, and pleasant to work with. Very sad to hear he has passed. He will certainly be missed by many people. My condolences to his family and friends who will certainly miss him.

Whenever I saw you, whether it be at EJ's or the Puyallup Eagles, you always had a smile and a kind word. Keep Sambo and Beaver in line now that you are up there with them. My deepest sympathies to your family!
