James Pickert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Kampp Funeral Home on Feb. 6, 2026.
James L. Pickert, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. Born on December 11, 1944, James grew up in Villa Park, Illinois, graduated from Willowbrook High School, and later raised his family in Glen Ellyn.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1968. In 1970, he married Denise Pickert and they began a devoted partnership that lasted 55 wonderful years. Together they built a loving family that was the center of his world.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Pickert; his children, Eric Pickert (Nikki Wagner), Cheryl Dempsey (Chris Dempsey), and Brett Pickert; his cherished grandsons, Frankie and Freddy Pickert; his brother George Pickert (Margie Pickert); his sister, Kathleen Sieja (Ted Jensen); several nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Bruno, who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Eileen Pickert, and his brother, Thomas Pickert.

James found joy in life's simple pleasures - golfing and especially teaching his three children how to golf, attending PGA tournaments with his kids as they grew up, watching baseball, and meticulously tending to his yard. A man of few words but a deeply loving presence, he would drop anything to help his kids and family. Known as a thoughtful planner who left no stone unturned, he approached life with care, dedication, and quiet strength.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 East Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, Illinois.

James will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
