James Edward Pitt, 91, of Franklin, TN, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in McKenzie, TN.
James was born in Nashville, TN to John Eddie and Nannie Mai Pitt on September 19, 1933. He went to school in Nashville, TN. He married the love of his life, Patricia Scott on August 15, 1954 in Birmingham, AL. He worked for AT&T formally Bell South and retired as an engineer after 40 years. He served in the Army National Guard. He volunteered many years at Grace Works in Franklin, TN and was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. James never met a stranger and would help anyone he could.
James is preceded in death by his parents John Eddie and Nannie Mai Pitt, along with a brother Dean, sisters Jean, Ann and Helen.
James is survived by his wife Patricia Scott Pitt, sons Russell Pitt and Richard Pitt and daughters Ruth Ann Grimes (Terry) and Robin Abbott (Ron), sister Betty Grant (Robert), 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday August 24 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Arrangements made by Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to Grace Works of Franklin.
